-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bury House Day Care Centre is funded by Hampshire Social Services Department and managed by Age Concern Hampshire. The Centre provides Day Care four days a week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9.30am to 2.30pm for Service Users.

The aim of the Centre is to enable older people to remain living independently in the Community and to provide support and respite for their carers.

Transport to and from the Centre is provided by Gosport Disability Trust.  Trained drivers are employed by Gosport Voluntary Action. We have a good team of drivers and escorts who will assist Service Users to and from the bus and ensure their safety and well being during the journey.

You will arrive at the Centre at approximately 9.30am..  On arrival, Service Users are welcomed with a cup of tea or coffee. Refreshments are available throughout the day.

Activities are run during the day for Service Users enjoyment and to promote social interaction, taking care to maintain personal independence.  There is always a choice and all Service Users are encourage to assist with setting up the activity programme.  This will include quizzes, games, music, talks, demonstrations, discussion and debates and craft activities, painting and knitting.  Clothes sales and raffles enable us to raise funds for outing and special events.

A Hairdresser makes regular visits and an appointment can be made if you require this service.

Please note, an absence of more than 2 to 3 weeks will result in your place at the Day Centre being cancelled unless it is a planned respite.
Wherever possible, doctors or other appointments should be arranged on days that you are not at the Day Care Centre.

Transportation other than to get to and from the Centre is not funded and we are not sufficiently staffed to take Service Users to appointments other than in an emergency.

A daily charge of £2.80 is made as a contribution to the cost of lunch. This is payable at the centre each week. Lunch is served at midday followed by tea at approximately 1pm.
